Geoff Reeve who, on behalf of Viking Property Holdings, negotiated the subject to planning deal with Asda supermarket is of the view that in 2012, the remaining 8 acre site at Viking Park will offer both leisure and retail operators an ideal opportunity to establish themselves in Bordon which is set to be transformed over the next 5 to 10 years.

It is predicted that following the withdrawal of the MOD from the town between 4,500/5,500 new homes will be developed in the town which will substantially increase the population of Bordon/Whitehill – currently in the region of 16,000 persons to a catchment area population well in excess of 30,000. The viability of the area has also been substantially improved by the opening of the Hindhead tunnel – the A3 being within easy access.

The Asda application which is to provide a new neighbourhood food store with a sales area of some 20,000 sq.ft. is currently with East Hampshire District Council for consideration. A copy of the layout plan is attached and the additional sites which it is felt are ideal for such uses as shown are merely diagrammatic for identification purposes although both the Bobby’s Food unit and the Woodlark Public House are already trading.

The Local Authority are very keen to encourage leisure opportunities and such operators or alternatively business users are invited to contact Geoff Reeve at the Farnham office 01252 710822 geoff@wandi.co.uk It is hoped that planning will be achieved for the Asda supermarket early in 2012.
