In the past couple of months Wadham & Isherwood Farnham have completed the letting of two town centre buildings to exciting new restaurant groups who will undoubtedly improve the already established reputation that the town has as being a well recognised centre for foodies offering a wide range of choice to diners.
After lengthy negotiations with English Heritage and Waverley Borough Council Conservation Officers planning was recently obtained to bring back into beneficial use and substantially refurbish a Grade II Listed building 67/68 Castle Street which had previously traded as a Chinese restaurant. Planning has now been achieved to extend and provide a 100 seat restaurant which has been pre-let to the Giggling Squid Group this being their 17thacquisition. The group specialise in Thai food and have built up an enviable reputation in their sector.
Close by at 4/5 Town Hall Buildings, and acting jointly with Orme Retail of London, Wadham & Isherwood have let the former Café Rouge building to The New World Trading Company, who are currently fitting out. The chic restaurant and bar operation known as The Botanist serve a classic British and modern European menu specialising in seasonal cocktails. The group, which is looking to expand in upmarket towns, currently trades from eight locations including Sloane Square, London which has become a particularly fashionable venue. Other branches include Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Chester, Alderley Edge, Marlow and Newcastle. It is intended that the Farnham operation will open early in 2016 following a comprehensive refurbishment and extensive staff training.
