Farnborough has been highlighted as an example of economic potential as part of a bid to attract more invesment in Hampshire.
The town, with its strong connection to the aviation industry and airport, is one of the areas lauded in the Invest in Hampshire campaign, aiming to present the county as a world-class area for business.
This will offer potential investors advice, guidance on research, funding and other agency support.
Councillor Ray Ellis, who is the executive member for economic develoment said: ‘Farnboroughis extremely well-connected and is noted for its aeronautical businesses, as well as having its own airport, which is the UK’s only dedicated business hub.
“Two of Farnborough’s significant recent developments include IQ Farnborough, owned by SECRO, and Cody Technology Park, which is owned by QinetIQ.
“Both locations offer high quality office, warehouse and Industrial units in a landscaped and secure setting.”
Hampshire is already home to nearly tow million people- around a million of working age – and the county boasts around 69,000 businesses, accounting around £35billion annually – equivilent to 20% of the total South East economy.
Cllr Ellis said “Hampshire is home to an extensive busines community and exceptional economic conditions for growth.
We will be working to help companies discover what Hampshire has to offer in terms of location, skills and business environment that will meet their specific needs and make it an ideal location for them to base their organisation.”
