Boeing’s tunnel vision at Cody Technology Park, Farnborough

Boeing is to test its latest generation of fuel-efficient jets in a wind tunnel owned by Qinetiq located on the Cody Technology Park in Farnborough.

The aircraft giant has signed a five year deal to extend its use of Qinetiq’s wind tunnel at Farnborough, Hampshire, and could use it to develop its 777X plane.

The tunnel, one of only three of its kind in the world, was opened in 1978 and has been used to test fighter jets, F1 cars and a spaceship in winds of up to 200mph.
