The interested parties, understood to include Land Securities, Lend Lease, British Land, Stanhope, Queensberry and Hermes, hope to develop the extension to the Friary shopping centre with partner Guildford Borough Council. A decision is expected before Christmas.
Hermes owns the existing 163,000 sq ft Friary Centre after it bought out the 50% stake of its joint venture partner Westfield. In July, Hermes bought the 15,844 sq ft Dominion House within the 5 acre extension zone. Hermes reportedly paid £1.85 million and now owns around 60% of the site.
